Out of President Barack Obama's $27.2 billion proposed budget for the Department of Energy in fiscal 2013, $270 million would be for biomass and biorefinery systems development, the agency said. This would be an increase from the program's nearly $180 million budget in fiscal 2011 and the approximately $200 million in fiscal 2012. Of the $270 million, 32% would support emerging technologies, 29% would go to innovation, 23% would go to systems integration and the remainder would go to overcoming market barriers.
