A study of 197 children who underwent open-airway surgery found that none who were treated with an antibiotic regimen before, during and after surgery developed a post-surgical methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus infection. The findings underscore the need to develop a screening and treatment regimen, researchers reported in the Archives of Otolaryngology -- Head & Neck Surgery.
