The Obama administration has unveiled a "privacy bill of rights" for Web users, founded on a "do not track" agreement developed with the support of the online advertising industry. The administration is calling for legislative action on the issue. The framework would see one-click privacy features built into browsers, as well as new advertising regulations developed by the Department of Commerce and enforced by the Federal Trade Commission. "As the Internet evolves, consumer trust is essential for the continued growth of the digital economy. ... For businesses to succeed online, consumers must feel secure," said President Barack Obama said.
