Sanford Children's Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., used Botox treatments to open the esophagus of NICU patient Maci Van Riesen, who was born at 26 weeks' gestation and had narrowing of the muscle that controls swallowing. The treatment worked, as Maci was better able to swallow and gained enough weight to go home after 126 days in the hospital.
