Satellite providers added 147,000 subscribers in the fourth quarter as cable operators lost more than 200,000 customers, according to an analysis of figures from publicly owned companies. Meanwhile, Barclays Capital analyst James Ratcliffe predicts that satellite, cable and telecom providers will add 450,000 subscribers this year -- more than double the 2011 total -- as a result of slight growth in occupied homes and the addition of cheaper service options.
