The American Cleaning Institute and other industry groups are criticizing research suggesting that certain cleaning products contain chemicals linked to asthma. The chemicals cited in the research are considered safe at the levels they are used in consumer products, industry officials said, and in some cases the researchers' findings aren't relevant to humans. "The research does not demonstrate that proper use of these products is contributing to health and safety problems," said ACI's Richard Sedlak.
