Micro-needles that emit a radio frequency stimulate production of collagen and hyaluronic acid, lifting the skin and reducing the signs of aging, says dermatologist Leyda Bowes. The process involves numbing the area with lidocaine and a topical cream, and bruising and swelling can occur. Results are gradual and can last two years or longer, Bowes says.
