The Department of Homeland Security's PreCheck "trusted traveler" program now has about 420,000 members -- frequent fliers who pay a fee and undergo an investigation so they can skip long waits at the airport. An additional 570,000 trusted travelers have paid to be part of an international travel program run by Customs and Border Protection. Global Entry, which "is open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents as well as Canadian, Mexican and Dutch nationals," is the largest program, this feature says.
