Although consumers want to save money, many oppose smart-grid initiatives because they think such projects will cost them more. A report from Pike Research points to the need to educate consumers on the benefits of the system, noting that 57% of survey respondents were worried about increased costs related to the smart grid. Nearly half of those asked said they were interested in smart appliances that could save energy at home.
