A bill in the California Senate would require brokers of construction-trucking services to disclose their surety bonds. Under state law, a broker must have a surety bond worth at least $15,000. "By creating easier access to a copy of the bond, a subhauler will know up front if in fact they are contracting with a bonded broker," said Brooks Ellison, an official with a trucking group.
