Women who are primary caregivers for someone who is ill, often their husbands, face disruptions in their professional and social lives and daily activities. Diana Denholm, author of "The Caregiving Wife's Handbook," says illness also can lead to personality changes in sick spouses, and she advises caregivers to adopt coping strategies and certain communication tools that can help during stressful situations.
