Freight carloads on U.S. railroads dropped 6.2% from year ago-levels in the week that ended March 31, but intermodal volume climbed 3.6% in the same period, according to the Association of American Railroads. North American chemical shipments declined 8.8%. For the month of March, rail carload traffic fell 5.8% year-over-year, while intermodal volume increased 3.5%.
