The Department of the Interior unveiled proposals to accelerate its review of onshore oil and natural gas drilling permits as the Obama administration works to boost domestic energy production. "As part of President Obama's all-of-the-above energy strategy, Interior is committed to expanding safe and responsible oil and gas development on public lands and Indian trust lands," Interior Secretary Ken Salazar said. "[The] announcement sounds promising but additional reforms are needed," said Erik Milito, upstream director at the American Petroleum Institute.
