The Los Angeles City Council cleared a feed-in tariff program that will allow the city's Department of Water and Power to purchase renewable power from projects of up to 3 megawatts without needing to get the council's permission. The program will start in a 10-megawatt pilot phase, and possibly rise to 150 MW depending on the level of interest and the city's budget. The mayor must sign the ordinance by April 13 for it to take effect.
