Enterprises are instructed to conduct extensive due diligence before choosing their cloud vendors, but how much do those service providers really know about their prospective clients? As it turns out, not much, according to industry consultant Alan Shimel. Most cloud companies ask for little more than a name and a credit card number before accepting a company's data into their pool. Shimel says that's not necessarily a concern, as long as the provider is proactive about security. "If solid security measures are put in place, then providers can make sure that even if unwanted data is put in the cloud, there's little harm that it can cause," he says.
