About 300 daily newspapers nationwide have metered access to their digital editions, charging for individual articles or by subscription. In addition to potential for increasing revenue, pay plans appear to lift sales of weekend print editions, which often are packaged with a digital subscription. The revenue issue is at the forefront of discussion this week at the Newspaper Association of America's mediaXchange conference, where President Caroline Little said that "we're really looking at innovation and execution."
