Senate Democrats are joining forces to prevent the swift approval of TransCanada's Keystone XL pipeline. Eight Democrats, including Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., were named by Senate leaders to a conference committee that will negotiate with House Republicans on a transportation-funding bill that contains language to clear the project. Baucus is the only negotiator who is seen as potentially supportive of including the pipeline language in the final bill, a Democratic Senate leadership aide said.
