A Massachusetts Institute of Technology study that found better quality health care was provided by New York hospitals that charged higher prices does not contradict findings by the Dartmouth Atlas of Health Care that spending does not correlate with quality, a Dartmouth researcher said. He said the MIT study looked only at ambulatory care in the emergency department, while the Dartmouth research analyzed overall cost of care on a regional basis, including readmissions.
