Teacher and author Dan Brown in this blog post lists five things teachers should never say to students -- most them blurted out in moments of frustration. Topping the list, is, "I get paid whether you (fill in the blank) or not," which Brown writes sends a message that teachers do not care about students. Brown also recommends teachers avoid comparing one class of students to another, admitting if they do not know what they are doing, telling students they will not be able to do something, and saying, "I know this may seem pointless but we have to get through it."
