Internet-connected television sets, which accounted for one-quarter of global TV shipments last year, will represent 70% of all TVs shipped in 2016, according to IMS Research. Consumer electronics manufacturers are forecast to realize $117 billion in revenue as a result. The market research firm also forecasts that 80% of TVs shipped in 2016 will have built-in Wi-Fi connectivity and nearly 30% will have an advanced user interface incorporating gesture, motion or voice recognition.
