Yacht clubs in the Tampa Bay, Fla., area have weathered tough economic storms by being creative with marketing and public relations, updating clubhouses and adding opportunities designed to attract younger members. The Club at Treasure Island added new family-oriented programming such as fishing tournaments, costume contests and dolphin sightseeing trips to expand membership. "We have a great deal of affection for older members but we feel fortunate that with the programming we’ve been able to add, we’ve grown into a more youthful, vibrant club,” says owner Bill Edwards.
