Patients with pancreatic cancer had an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes compared with controls, with a higher risk seen in women with pancreatic cancer than their male counterparts, according to a study in Experimental Diabetes Research. Data on 317 participants showed 35.2% of pancreatic cancer patients were diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, compared with 20% in the control group. Researchers found diabetes prevalence was 44% in female cancer patients, compared with 25% among male cancer patients.
