A study of an electronic health record system used by 17 Kaiser Permanente medical centers found EHR use improved care and outcomes for patients with diabetes, researchers reported in the Annals of Internal Medicine. Data showed patients who had poorer control of their diabetes had faster follow-up testing and those who had good glycemic and lipid control had lower repeat testing rates.
