Fractional flow reserve-guided percutaneous coronary intervention is cost-effective and improves quality of life when compared with medical management in stable patients who have flow-limiting coronary lesions, according to results from the FAME II trial. Researchers found similar outcomes for rates of mortality and myocardial infarction but a significantly lower rate of urgent revascularization at the two-year mark for PCI patients.
