Microsoft's Azure service and VMware's open-source Cloud Foundry are leading platform-as-a-service offerings, yet they mostly lack the capability to support internal, private clouds, says John Treadway of Cloud Technology Partners. VMware says a private version of Cloud Foundry will be available next year, while Microsoft says Azure users can develop a private cloud using Windows Server 2012 and Systems Center 2012.
