NASA and the military are considering new, cheaper ways to get their satellites into space, including sending their instruments up along with commercial satellites. Lt. Gen. Ellen M. Pawlikowski, commander of the Space and Missile Systems Center at Air Force Space Command, told commercial satellite industry members this month that the government may be looking for more such partnerships. "You've got a lot of satellites up there and I sure would like to hitch a ride," she said.
