School psychologists can include nutrition education and physical fitness in their work with students, thus decreasing childhood obesity and improving academic achievement among students, a study in School Psychology Forum indicated. "It's proven that obesity leads to physical health problems such as diabetes and emotional problems like depression, as well as to other troublesome, negative results like social isolation, being bullied, and low self-esteem," said researcher Scott McCarthy.
