Residents have a right to know about vote totals from HOA elections in Illinois, lawyer Howard Dakoff writes. "[U]nit owners are entitled to review the ballots and proxies from board elections within the preceding 12 months upon stating a proper purpose," he says. "The association has 30 days to make available to the unit owner the requested ballots and proxies. But condominium associations are not required to deliver to each unit owner or board candidate a summary of how each unit owner voted."
