The Waterkeeper Alliance did not prove that pollution to a Chesapeake Bay tributary had been caused by chickens being raised on a Maryland farm, a federal judge ruled. The group, which said it may appeal the decision, had sought to place part of the legal responsibility for pollution from the farm with Perdue because the company had control over operations and inspections of the chickens.
