Openly gay New Jersey Assemblyman Reed Gusciora this week introduced legislation that would allow the state’s voters to decide whether same-sex couples can legally marry, but LGBT groups objected to the move. Gusciora insists his legislation could break the logjam created by Gov. Chris Christie’s veto of a marriage equality bill, but opponents of a statewide vote say that route would be too costly and politically divisive.
