Men with severe periodontal disease had triple the risk of erectile problems compared with men who had healthy gums, according to a Turkish study of 80 men who had erectile dysfunction and 82 men without the condition. The study did not prove a causal relationship, and some medical and dental professionals questioned the findings, but they said the results are a reminder of how oral health affects the rest of the body.
