A case involving more than 40 California district attorneys has resulted in a judge ordering Walgreen to pay $16.57 million related to allegations that it sent hazardous materials to landfills rather than hazardous waste facilities. Inspectors said all but three of the 37 Walgreens stores in the state committed the violations. The hazardous waste included pesticides, aerosols, pharmaceutical waste and bleach, inspectors reported.
