U.S. researchers reviewed studies on pediatric urinary tract infections and found insufficient evidence supporting AAP's recommendation of aggressive diagnosis and treatment for young children with fever due to UTIs. Only two studies included in the review tied aggressive and early UTI identification to the prevention of renal problems later in life. The findings appear in the Annals of Emergency Medicine.
