The need for more primary care providers and an unstable economy are among the factors driving nurses in Indiana and other states to seek advanced degrees and to work in settings such as outpatient clinics, home care and community health centers. The need for nurses with advanced degrees will further increase under the Affordable Care Act, said Kimberly Harper, director of the Indiana Center for Nursing. "When more people have access to insurance, there will be an increase in people seeking care, especially primary care," Harper said.
