A phenomenon capable of bending a pathway of light can also be applied to giant cosmic voids and may be why galaxies beyond them appear brighter and farther away than they actually are. Cosmologists say the discovery of the "antilensing" property of cosmic voids is key to better studying how the universe expands as well as understanding the dark matter that makes up most of our universe.
