The new $185 million Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas, designed by architect Thom Mayne, offers several exhibit floors and a study in architecture. The "striated concrete structure, its roughness and angles [are] a sharp contrast to the nearby straight-up skyscrapers," writes Helen Anders. The museum combines "serious science with whimsy," including water molecule structures -- or bubbles -- on the ceiling of the lobby that bounce as people walk beneath them.
