Revised New York City-area maps released by the Federal Emergency Management Agency place 35,000 more homes and businesses in the city in flood zones, doubling the previous number and meaning that more property owners may have purchase flood insurance. "What we're trying to do is provide the means, immediately, for people who want to move forward now to be able to do so," said Deputy Mayor Cas Holloway, adding that the revised maps provide "time to think and plan what kind of changes they would want to make."
