Apophis, billed as a "doomsday asteroid" because of since-corrected predictions of a chance that it could hit the Earth one day, is larger than astronomers previously believed. The rock, which was available for viewing in webcasts this week, is 20% larger, at 1,066 feet, than first estimated. Later research discovered Apophis will not harm our planet when it flies by in 2029; it is expected to pass by Earth again in 2036.
