Sugarcane production in Brazil's center-south region is expected to reach a record this year, as high soil moisture helped plants thrive despite the dry conditions in December, said Plinio Nastari, president of research group Datagro. The region's cane harvest is projected to total 580 million to 590 million metric tons in the crop year that starts April 1, Nastari said.
