Many moderate, Midwestern and Northeastern House Republicans say they have little interest in passing gun-control legislation, leaving Speaker John Boehner with little reason to bring such a measure to a vote. That could stymie President Barack Obama's gun-control plan, while still leaving House Democrats exposed to criticism from the gun lobby ahead of the 2014 midterms. "In order to win back the districts Democrats need to win, they need to pick up a lot of pro-gun districts," notes Democratic strategist Steve Murphy.
