The U.S. economy could be adversely affected by excessive Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff recommendations for post-Fukushima safety rules at U.S. nuclear plants, several House Republicans wrote in a letter to NRC Chairwoman Allison Macfarlane. "If strong economic headwinds force the premature closure of nuclear plants, increased regulatory burden will likely increase the number of nuclear plants prematurely closed," the lawmakers said.
