Researchers say they have developed an alternative to shellac for panned chocolate products. The combination of cocoa butter and hydrolyzed collagen film is not quite as bright but is better for the environment because it uses water-based edible film instead of alcohol, they say.
Original Gourmet Fudge, made by Gunther Grant-owned Got Chocolates, is being sold in 7-Eleven stores in New York state. The fudge, sold in 3-ounce and 1-pound packages, is made with natural ingredients including cream, butter and Madagascar vanilla.
LiveWire Ergogenics has introduced energy chews sold in four-packs and available in five flavors, including Citrus Mango, Cinnamon Fire, Chocolate Mint, Sour Apple and Pomaberry. Each four-serving pack is said to provide 12 hours of energy.
TruSweets says it has introduced the only organic candy canes in the U.S. The vegan and kosher-certified candies are said to contain no artificial colors or flavors, and ingredients include brown rice syrup and fruit juice.
