Twitter has introduced an index that measures the amount of conversation about the people and movies nominated for this year's Academy Awards. The index will track mentions of nominees for the six most popular categories -- best actor, actress, supporting actor, supporting actress, director and film -- and compare the number of mentions relative to each other, leading up to the awards ceremony in February. "While the next six weeks are sure to be filled with crystal ball predictions of how the illustrious Academy members will vote, the Twitter Oscars Index provides another dimension to the story: the voice of the fans," said Fred Graver, Twitter's head of TV.
