Verizon Wireless will reportedly put a major push on this year for a new high-end Nokia Lumia phone code-named "Laser" that will have similar features to the Finnish phone maker's flagship Lumia 920. Nokia has so far fallen short in its U.S. efforts, according to analysts, who noted North American Lumia sales totaled 700,000 units in the last quarter, 30% below analysts' projections. Nokia chief executive Stephen Elop insisted that the company had no intention of allying with Android and would stick with Microsoft's Windows Phone platform. Elop backed Nokia's Asha low-end handsets and said Google was turning Android into a more closed ecosystem.
