The Omaha Public Power District's Fort Calhoun nuclear plant in Nebraska, offline since April 2011, will undergo a series of inspections by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission before it can restart. The plant's four main water pumps will be the focus of the probe. "As we continue our work to oversee OPPD's corrective actions to address the restart checklist, additional NRC inspectors are on site to ensure that the plant operator has taken the appropriate steps to replace the pump bolts," said Elmo Collins, the NRC's Region IV administrator.
