The U.S. will help France dislodge al-Qaida and its affiliates from bases in Mali but is not committing ground troops to the effort, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta said Monday. "We're concerned that any time al-Qaida establishes a base of operations, while they may not have any immediate plans for attacks in the United States and in Europe, ultimately that remains their objective," Panetta said of the decision to support the French.
