A study found that daily physical-education classes would raise children's amount of exercise by about 23 minutes, helping meet more than one-third of the daily recommended physical activity goal. The combination of daily PE classes, brief activity breaks in classrooms and active commuting to school would give children 58 minutes of exercise, researchers reported in the American Journal of Preventive Medicine.
