Dow Chemical is making improvements in waste management and disposal, as it reduced its releases by millions of pounds in 2011, according to the Environmental Protection Agency's Toxics Release Inventory National Analysis Overview. The company is reporting waste management at 49 sites, and it dropped from second to third in EPA's list of largest releases for 2011. Dow's chemical-waste management program, called Waste Reduction Always Pays, has lessened the company's waste output by nearly 30% since 2007, a Dow spokesman said.
