A recent study found that taking daily physical-education courses in school, taking physical activity breaks in the classroom and encouraging students to bike and walk to school would benefit students. Federal recommendations call for children ages 6 to 17 to get 60 minutes of physical activity each day. A Colorado elementary school, which has been recognized nationally, offers students options for activity breaks such as dancing, jumping rope, relay races and power walking.
