The disruption of blood and oxygen flow to the brain of premature infants disrupts the development of neural cells but doesn't cause their irreversible loss, according to a study from the Oregon Health & Science University Doernbecher Children's Hospital. "As a result, we can focus greater attention on developing the right interventions, at the right time early in development," said lead researcher Dr. Stephen Back.
